TENOR ATTIS YONG CHEN FIRST STUDIED BACHELORS DEGREE AT THE XINGHAI CONSERVATORY OF GUANGZHOU (CHINA), AND CONTINUED WITH A MASTERS DEGREE IN VOCAL PERFORMANCE AT THE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IN HONG KONG. HE THEN TOOK A POSTGRADUATE STUDIES DIPLOMA FROM THE 'UNIVERSITÄT FOR MUSIK UND DARSTELLENDER KUNST' IN VIENNA UNDER THE TUTELAGE OF U. PROF. F. LUKASOVSKY.
IN 2007 HE MADE HIS OPERATIC DEBUT IN THE SHANGHAI GRAND THEATRE WITH THE ROLE OF REMENDADO IN CARMEN CONDUCTED BY MICHEL PLASSON. IN THE RECENT YEARS HE HAS BEEN INVITED SINGING IN SEVERAL OPERA PRODUCTIONS WITH OPERA HONG KONG AND MUSICA VIVA, THE TWO LEADING PRODUCTION COMPANIES IN HONG KONG. ATTIS SANG TONIO IN LA FILLE DU REGIMENT, DON JOSÉ IN CARMEN , RINUCCIO IN GIANNI SCHICCHI AND RODOLFO IN LA BOHÈME. OTHER LEADING ROLES SAW HIM ON THE STAGE AS ALFREDO IN LA TRAVIATA, FERRANDO IN COSÌ FAN TUTTI, AND MOST RECENTLY ROMÉO IN GOUNOD’SROMÉO ET JULLIETE.
EQUALLY RICH HIS CONCERT EXPERIENCE, HAVING BEEN INVITED BY HONG KONG PHILHARMONIC FOR MESSIAH OF HANDEL, FOLLOWED BY THEMOZART’S MASS IN C MINORAT THE ORIENTAL ART CENTRE OF SHANGHAI AND THE MESSA DA REQUIEM OF VERDI PERFORMED AT HONG KONG CITY HALL CONCERT HALL. HE HAS RECENTLY BEEN ADMITTED TO 'THE JOCKEY CLUB OPERA HONG KONG YOUNG ARTIST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME' (JCOHKYADP), DIRECTED BY THE RENOWNED CHINESE BASS DONGJIAN GONG.
